Aldobrandeschi fortress

This fifteenth-century fortress is one of the most important testimonies of the history of the Aldobrandeschi family in Manciano.

The Aldobrandeschi in medieval times controlled practically all of Maremma, they built fortresses throughout the territory, but unfortunately many are now privately owned and therefore cannot be visited.

The Manciano fortress houses the municipal offices, but is open to visitors (with specific times and dates) who can reach the turret and admire a wonderful panorama of the Tuscan Maremma, the Argentario coast and the Giglio Island.

The view is breathtaking, to be admired for hours and hours!

If you visit Manciano you certainly cannot miss this magical place, there is no other place in Maremma with the same panorama, a view that embraces the whole Maremma with a single glanceā€¦

It is also possible to take advantage of guided tours of the fortress starting from the info point, located in the Museum of Prehistory, in Piazza del Castello.

inside the fortress you can admire the beautiful paintings of the Council Hall, created by the two famous Manchanese painters Pietro Aldi and Paride Pascucci. The tour then continues towards the tower, from which you can admire the beautiful panorama of the Tuscan Maremma.
